Beaverton Sign Code Update

The City of Beaverton is embarking on an update of the Development Code specific to sign regulation.  Current sign regulations have not been updated for several years and do not account for the full array of signs types and technology available today.  The goal of the update is to establish new regulations that reflect the needs of businesses, schools, and industry while promoting the type of signs and urban character that are consistent with community goals.

Update: April 21, 2017 – City Council action approves Planning Commission recommendation.  First Reading of Ordinance adopting Text Amendment is set for May 2, 2017.

On April 18, 2017, the Beaverton City Council conducted a public hearing to consider adoption of proposed text amendments as recommended by the Beaverton Planning Commission.   At the end of the hearing, City Council voted in support of these recommended changes.  First Reading of the Ordinance adopting text amendments is scheduled for May 2, 2017.  After First Reading and action by City Council, the Second Reading of the Ordinance is scheduled for May 9, 2017.  The Ordinance then becomes effective 30 days after Second Reading.
