  1. Beaverton Severe Weather Shelter OPEN

    When temperatures drop, the city responds. Serving as the only operational severe weather shelter within Beaverton, people in need will have a warm, safe place for the night. A skilled coordinator and highly-trained staff volunteers will operate the shelter to ensure facility security. Space for 30 adults, 18+, first come-first served. 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. at the Beaverton Community Center on Thursdays from January 12 - March 30, 2017 and during times of extreme cold lasting 48 hours or more.

    This training is a primer for nonprofit board and staff members who are new to equity and inclusion and/or would like to delve more deeply into the topic. In this workshop, participants will: •Explore inclusion and equity from the individual, group and systems levels •Learn how to develop the basic knowledge, skills, attitude and behaviors needed to support and lead equity and inclusion work within their nonprofit •Gain tools for effectively partnering across differences Presented by Cliff Jones, and hosted by Nonprofit Association of Oregon, City of Beaverton, and the Vision Action Network.
