Development Services Application Process (PDF)
All land use projects/issues in the City of Beaverton fall into one of the four types of applications. The type of application depends upon the complexity of the decision.
In general, Type 1 and Type 2 are simpler decisions handled by the Community Development Department staff (including Administrative Decisions by the Planning Director). Type 3 and 4 are more complex (and often more controversial) decisions, which are heard and decided by appointed or elected officials and have one level of appeal within the City. The levels of review for each application type differ not only in the public bodies involved, but also in their timelines, the degree of public notice given, and their provisions for citizen input.
For more information about types of applications, please see Chapter 50 of the Development Code. For questions about a particular application or to determine which type of application your proposal will likely require, please contact Development Service Staff.
