Workers’ Compensation:

Any City employee who sustains a compensable occupational injury or illness is eligible to receive Workers’ Compensation benefits as prescribed by law.

Retirement:

The City participates in the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and pays both the employer and employee contributions totaling approximately 18.35% of salary. Employees become eligible to participate after six months of employment and are vested after 5 years in PERS.

Deferred Compensation (Section 457 Plan):

A voluntary deferred compensation program is provided by the City. Great West Life manages the program for employees. Employees may defer up to $15,500 annually depending upon their wages.

Employee Assistance Program:

The City of Beaverton has contracted with Employee Assistance Services Enterprises (EASE) to provide confidential assistance to employees who are coping with work, family, financial or other problems. EASE can help with:

  • Family concerns
  • Career changes
  • Life crises related to death, divorce, illness or other major events
  • Personal and work pressures
  • Alcohol and drug problems
  • Relationship conflicts
  • Financial and legal concerns
  • Parenting and child care issues

All regular City employees are eligible to participate in the employee assistance program.

TriMet Passport Program:

The City currently provides employees an annual TriMet pass for use on all TriMet services. These passes are for current, regular City employees who use public transportation to get to work or attend business related meetings. They are available through the Human Resources Department.

Direct Deposit:

Employees have the option to have their paychecks deposited directly to their bank or credit union accounts.

US Savings Bonds:

Employees may purchase US Savings bonds through payroll deduction.

Uniform Allowances:

The City provides shoe and clothing allowances for represented employees in covered positions.

  • SEIU Employees:  The City provides $100 for approved shoes or boots and $100 for clothing as specified in the collective bargaining agreement.
  • BPA Employees:   The City provides the basic uniform and required gear to new employees in entry level classifications. The City provides a $500 per year clothing allowance for plainclothes officers. Employees receive $25 monthly towards the cost of uniform cleaning.
