Abandoned Vehicles

Under the City Code, a vehicle may not be parked on a public road for more than 48 hours unless it is in front of the registration address. Vehicles are considered to be abandoned and subject to being towed away when they:

  • Appear to be inoperable
  • Do not display current registration
  • Are not parked at the registration address for more than two days
You can report Abandoned Autos by calling the Abandoned Auto Hotline: (503) 350-4058 or you can use our Report a Problem form. It will help us serve you better and faster if you are prepared to provide the following information:
  • The street address where the vehicle is parked.
  • The license plate numbers of the vehicle.
  • Are those Oregon plates, or some other state?
  • When do the license plates expire?
  • What is the make, model and color of the vehicle.
We are committed to respond to your Abandoned Auto report within one business day. If the vehicle meets the code criteria for being abandoned, we will apply an orange warning sticker to the window to provide 48 hours advance notice before towing. If the vehicle is not moved within 48 hours, it will be towed away and impounded. Impounded vehicles can be redeemed from the storage yard of the tow company that took the vehicle. To find out which tow company impounded the vehicle, you can call Code Services at 503-526-2270 or the Beaverton Police Department at 503-526-2260.
