The Landlord / Tenant Mediation program was established to serve the needs of the growing multifamily community in eastern Washington County. Nearly 50% of the citizens of Beaverton live in multifamily housing.
Disputes involving late payment of rent, evictions, deposits, repairs, damage, rental agreement violations, pets, noise, and neighbor relations are some of the types of issues appropriate for mediation.
Multifamily living constitutes a unique housing situation with special types of problems. Landlord / tenant law changes with each legislative session and rental agreements are becoming more complex as landlords and tenants try to find ways to work in partnership with one another. Add the complexities of increased-density living to a continuously changing mix of cultures, life-styles, and values and it is not a surprise that multifamily living presents challenges.

Our Center’s program is designed to give landlords, managers, and tenants a means of constructively exploring differences, gaining new understanding, and working together to reach mutually acceptable agreements while avoiding the time, cost, and uncertainty of the more conventional “win / lose” option of litigation. This can help build trust, improve relationships and strengthen your community.
