Traffic Lights, Signals & Signs—
Frequently Asked Questions

Traffic Lights

The Traffic Signals, Signs & Streetlight Section is responsible for maintaining not only the City's traffic signals and streetlights, but also Oregon Department of Transportation's (ODOT) and Washington County's traffic signals located in the City.

This section is also responsible for the maintenance of the City's street lighting system, street names and regulatory signs, and street pavement markings.

How do I report a burned out streetlight?

The City of Beaverton owns some streetlights, but other streetlights are owned by PGE (Portland General Electric). Please call the Traffic Maintenance Section at (503) 526-2206 to report a burned out streetlight or use our Online Report a Problem Form.

If the streetlight is owned by PGE (determined by the map and pole number from a metal tag on the streetlight pole), you may call them directly or use the PGE Online Outage Reporting System. (You will need the map and pole number for online reporting.) City streetlights are typically repaired within five working days. If a streetlight is flickering on and off it indicates it is almost ready to burn out. Contact the Traffic Maintenance Section with an accurate description of the streetlight's location.

How do I report a malfunctioning traffic signal?

Contact the City's Traffic Maintenance Section for these requests also. If the problem is a SIGNAL TIMING ISSUE, contact the City Project Engineer at (503) 526-2426.

Traffic Signs

Contact the Traffic Maintenance Section for repairs and replacements of street signs. To request new signs in your neighborhood, please contact the City's Transportation Division at (503) 526-3726.

Call the Traffic Signals & Sign Maintenance Section at (503) 526-2206 to report a problem or obtain additional information. You can also use the Online Report a Problem Form to report a problem directly to the Public Works Department.
