Second Home will be recognized as the Human Rights Award recipient at the City of Beaverton’s City Council Meeting on Tuesday, January 13th at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers. Reception before the presentation to be held on the 5th Floor of The Beaverton Building – Columbia River Room at 6:00 pm.
  • April 1, 2015 – meeting to be held at Activities Center (12500 SW Allen Blvd, Beaverton OR)
  • October 7, 2015 – meeting to be held at Activities Center (12500 SW Allen Blvd, Beaverton OR)

About the Human Rights Advisory Commission
Powers & Duties
The commission shall: 
  • Examine sources of tension, practices of discrimination, or acts of prejudice by employees of the City
  • Make recommendations concerning solutions to specific problems of prejudice or discrimination in the City
  • Recommend action, policies, and legislation to the City Council to be considered by state and local governments
  • Make reports to the City Council upon request 
  • Perform conciliatory services that do not conflict with the functions of any other government agency
  • Promote harmonious inter-group relations within the City
