About Our Water Supply
The City of Beaverton supplies drinking water to about 70,000 residents, or about 78% of the 90,000 residents who live within the City limits. The primary source of filtered drinking water in Beaverton’s service area is from the Joint Water Commission (JWC) Water Treatment Plant, which filters surface water pumped from the nearby upper Tualatin River, located 20 miles from the City.

The JWC, an intergovernmental water supply agency, provides the primary potable water supply to more than 400,000 customers in Washington County through its member agencies: the cities of Beaverton, Hillsboro, Forest Grove, and Tigard, as well as the Tualatin Valley Water District. Beaverton has been a member of the JWC since 1979.
