Councilor Betty Bode was elected to the City Council in the November 2002 general election and began her first four-year term of service on January 6, 2003. Councilor Bode was re–elected in 2007. Prior to her election to the City Council she served as charter chair and a commission member on the Beaverton Human Rights Advisory Commission from 1993 to 1997 and on the Planning Commission in 2000.
Betty enjoys spending time with her brother, Tom; sister-in-law, Jacque; and her two nephews, Tommy and Michael. The boys attend Beaverton schools. Betty lives in the Sorrento area and enjoys gardening, reading, and volunteering at Rose Haven Women's Crisis center.
