Washington County Commuter Rail construction will impact traffic on SW Farmington Rd and SW Lombard Ave starting Wednesday, May 21. Crews will close one lane in each direction on Farmington to reconstruct the intersection and make pedestrian and vehicle safety improvements.
Construction activities will close southbound traffic on Lombard between Broadway and Farmington. Traffic on Lombard will be detoured and buses will be rerouted. Thought construction, drivers heading westbound on Farmington will be able to turn right onto northbound Lombard.
The work will take place weekdays 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is expected to last until Wednesday, June 4. Flaggers will direct traffic through construction. Motorists can expect minor delays. After June 4, steel plates will be placed on the roadway while the concrete cures. Plates are expected to remain on the road until mid-June.
Crews will demolish the older street surface and sidewalks, and create a new concrete street surface, as well as new sidewalks and curbs. New pedestrian crossings and permanent signals and striping will also be installed.
Crews will repave SW Canyon Road at Lombard Avenue at night the week of May 19, necessitating lane closures. A minimum of one lane in each direction will remain open during construction. Work will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Flaggers will be present to direct motorist through the work zone.
Crews continue work on roadway improvements along SW Lombard Avenue between SW Canyon Boulevard and Beaverton Transit Center (BTC) in Beaverton. In-road work will be done through lane closures. Traffic is reduced to a single lane northbound on SW Lombard from Canyon. Crews are working Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Pedestrians and vehicles will continue to be detoured around the construction zone.
As a reminder, train speeds along with corridor are permanently increasing. Expect a faster train at any time. Be safe. Always look both ways before crossing tracks. Always expect a train.
