Crime Rates by
Neighborhood Association

The Beaverton Police Department is dedicated to serving its citizens well and keeping them safe. In general, Beaverton is one of the safest cities in the state overall, and crime rates have fallen slightly each year for the past four years.

According to the Morgan Quinto City Crime Rankings publication, Beaverton is recognized as the safest city in the Pacific Northwest (for cities over 75,000 in population) and the 47th safest city in the nation. The local police are also dedicated to enlisting the help of citizens in keeping crime down by sponsoring volunteer programs, citizen academies, landlord/tenant meetings, and National Night Out, and also by enlisting the help of reserve officers and cadets.

The crime statistics below summarize the reportable crimes in the City of Beaverton.

Note: 2006 statistics are based on new NAC boundaries, so comparisons with previously posted rates can be misleading (especially in Central Beaverton, Five Oaks/Triple Creek and Denney Whitford/Raleigh West where new areas were added).

Note that rates are based on population of city residents only. Estimated neighborhood populations are projected from 2000 Census data by simple linear extrapolation using 2000 Census data for these areas and current year estimated total city populations. The "total rate" includes all Uniform Crime Report (UCR) Crimes. "Person Index" rates are the combined rates of Murder, Forcible Rape, Robbery, and Aggravated Assault; "Property Index" rates are the combined rates of Burglary, Larceny (theft), Motor Vehicle Theft, and Arson.
