Streets and Highways
As the “hub” of Washington County, Beaverton is centrally located and easily accessible from every direction. The city is served by US Highway 26 and Highway 217, and is only minutes from Interstate 5, which connects the major West Coast metropolitans. US Highway 26 provides service to the Oregon Coast to the west and also extends into central and eastern Oregon, and I-84 extends east through Idaho and Utah, ending up in Denver, CO. Average commute time for residents of Beaverton is approximately 20 minutes and ongoing improvement projects within Beaverton continue to ensure that commuters have a variety of options at their fingertips.
Public Transportation
Public transportation commuters can find easy access to buses and light rail from any area of Beaverton. The Portland-Metro area’s award-winning public transportation system, TriMet, carries over 300,000 riders daily on weekdays. With the opening of the new airport Light Rail line, commuters can travel from Beaverton to Portland International Airport in just an hour for a fraction of the cost of airport parking or taxi service. In addition, a commuter rail line from Wilsonville to Beaverton is available now.
Walkability
In recognition of the fact that Oregon is home to some of the biggest walking and biking enthusiasts in the Country, Beaverton continues to ensure that ample bike and pedestrian pathways exist throughout the city.
Air Travel
Two airports, Portland International Airport (PDX) and the Hillsboro Airport, serve the Tualatin Valley. PDX offers flights on 27 carriers with more than 500 passenger flights daily to and from 100 cities worldwide. Passengers can take nonstop flights to Amsterdam, Tokyo, Guadalajara and Mexico City. The airport serves over 12 million passengers annually. Closer to home, and Oregon’s second busiest airport, Hillsboro Airport offers general / business and private craft aviation options.
Seaports
The Port of Portland manages four marine terminals along the Columbia and Willamette rivers that all lay in close proximity to major rail and highway connections.
Commuter and Passenger Rail Service
Amtrak Cascades runs from Eugene, Oregon to Vancouver, British Columbia. The Amtrak Coast Starlight route connects Seattle and Los Angeles and finally, the Empire Builder route runs east-west along the northern states en route between Portland / Seattle and Chicago.
