Beaverton Affordable Rents Policy

The Affordable Rents policy guides the accessibility adaptions that may be available to certain tenants residing in the City of Beaverton. 

Grant assistance for accessibility adaptions is available when the following criteria are met: 

  • Funding must be available 
  • The adaptions must be determined to be a critical need 
  • The tenant must be elderly, defined as 62 years of age, or disabled 
  • The household receiving assistance must be income eligible (household income may not exceed 80% AMI) 
  • If the building where a client lives contains more than 2 units, at least 51% of the households residing in the building must meet household income requirements. If a property contains 3 or more units it must be a regulated multi-family housing property 
  • The household must not be charged a monthly rent that exceeds affordable rents. The City of Beaverton defines affordable rents as the most current Fair Market Rents for Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA MSA, which are:

The landlord must authorize all modifications that will be made with CDBG funds to the unit prior to the project commencing.
