Bicycle safety tips:
We all need to work together as a community to reduce the risk of bicycle related injuries. Drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians alike need to take steps to reduce the risk of crashes.
Be extra vigilant for cyclists with whom you share the road and pedestrians crossing streets—especially at intersections.
Cyclists and Pedestrians:
Enhance your visibility. Wear bright, high visibility yellow clothing that includes reflective material.
Remember Oregon law requires that your bicycle has a white light in front and a red reflector or light to the rear during “limited visibility conditions.” Lights can also be attached to arms and legs, clothing, helmets and hats to further your visibility. Helmets required for everyone.
Limit the volume of your music, podcasts and other entertainment so that you can hear what’s going on around you.
