While garbage and recycling service is available to all residents and businesses within Beaverton, access to educational materials and tools can be a barrier to participation. The city’s Solid Waste & Recycling Program strives to translate most resources into Spanish, including recycling fliers, posters, bags, garden guidelines, and Eat Smart Waste Less materials. Beaverton also translates documents into additional languages upon request. The city offers oral translation services which have been used during community garden orientation to ensure accessibility to immigrants, refugees and English Language Learners. Composting is not yet available to apartment communities.
