Membership Requirements for the Traffic Commission
There are seven regular members. Members must be City residents. Members are appointed by the Mayor with approval of the City Council. To apply for an opening, complete our online application or complete and return an application to:

All members are expected to attend all meetings. All members are expected to become familiar with City transportation plans, codes, and policies. Members are encouraged to have knowledge of and familiarity with a variety of transportation modes and issues. All members are expected to be active participants in commission deliberations in a public setting.
All members are expected to read all of the materials related to their meetings, including staff reports and written materials submitted by the public. Some of the materials may be complex.
All members should be willing to dedicate several hours of preparation and meeting time for each scheduled meeting. Preparation typically includes field visits to the sites for issues on the meeting agenda.
