Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Section of the ISD Division administers geographic information services. The section plays an invaluable role within the City of Beaverton by providing efficient, high-quality and accurate GIS data, customer services, coordination and technical supports to meet the business needs of our city employees and the public.

Uses of GIS Data

Geography itself is a common reference used by virtually every activity in a local government, whether it be to locate a water main, set property tax assessments, or establish the boundaries for neighborhood organizations. Maps and data associated with locations are resources used daily for delivering public services, managing resources, and establishing public policy in all local governments across our nation. Many cities have opted to implement GIS to improve their delivery of services and the manner in which public policy is dictated.
