BEAVERTON, Ore. – The City of Beaverton’s Arts Program seeks proposals from master-level choreographers and dancers to create and perform a dance as part of Beaverton Ten Tiny Dances 2019. The event will be held on Saturday, Jul. 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Ten Tiny Dances® is a free, public event that features a wide-variety of dancers who represent modern, contemporary and traditional ethnic dance forms, performing in a variety of sites and contexts.

Ten Tiny Dances® is designed to engage audiences with unique performances and settings. The event guides the audience to explore creative convention through a blend of traditional ethnic art forms as well as contemporary forms.

Choreographer and dancer Mike Barber came up with an interesting concept in 2002. Ten Tiny Dances® presents ten dance performances on a 4’ x 4’ stage, challenging the choreographers and dancers to use the limited space to fuel their creativity. Barber has presented Ten Tiny Dances® in a wide range of settings, from warehouse spaces to trendy restaurants, and even on multiple stages, encouraging the audience to experience dance that has been created for a specific location.
