Beaverton Arts Mix! | October 3-6 | Beaverton City Library
The Beaverton Arts Mix! (BAM!) Art Show & Sale takes place Thursday, October 3 through Sunday, October 6. This year’s BAM! features 140 pieces of juried artwork by 95 local artists, 1,000+ non-juried pieces, an outdoor Quick Draw, Beaverton Civic Theatre’s Clue, and more! Your Art Moment! The City of Beaverton is now accepting applications for Your Art Moment! This is a year-long, daily series showcasing artworks via social media to inspire the community to take a moment to reflect and appreciate art and artists. Selected artworks will be posted to the city's social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) to encourage the community to take an "art break." Selected artists will receive a $25 use fee for each selected artwork(s) (up to three). Family Resource Fair | Saturday, October 19 | 10 AM - 2 PM | Beaverton City Library
Meet with local nonprofit organizations that serve families. There will be free books and activities for kids and a raffle! This drop-in style event is for families with children ages 10 & under.
Día de los muertos manualidades / Day of the Dead Crafts | Saturday, October 26 | 1:30-2:30 PM | Beaverton City Library
Acompáñanos a celebrar el Día de los muertos con artesanías. Incluye calaveras de azúcar, decoración de tu propia máscara y más. / Celebrate the Day of the Dead with fun crafts, including sugar skull decoration, masks and more! Para niños de 2 a 11 años y sus familias / Ages 2-11 with family. This is a drop-in style event.
Fermentation Festival | Sunday, October 27 | 1-4 PM | Beaverton City Library
Fermentation Festival is a celebration of all things fermented! Vendors will sample and sell fermented foods and beverages, including sauerkraut, kombucha, natto, beer and wine, and fermenting masters will present how-to demonstrations. This is a free, family-friendly event.
Author Visit: Renee Watson | Tuesday, October 29 | 6:30-7:30 PM | Beaverton City Library
Renée Watson is a New York Times bestselling author, educator and activist. Her young adult novel, Piecing Me Together (Bloomsbury, 2017), received a Coretta Scott King Award and Newbery Honor. Her children's picture books and novels for teens have received several awards and international recognition. She has given readings and lectures at many renowned places, including the United Nations, the Library of Congress, and the U.S. Embassy in Japan. The New York Times calls Renée’s writing “charming and evocative.” Renée grew up in Portland and is eager to talk about her work, answer questions and sign books! All ages are welcome.
BOO-verton Trick-or-Treat | Thursday, October 31 | 4-6 PM | Old Town Beaverton
Visit more than 30 participating businesses in Old Town Beaverton (near First St. in between Hall Blvd. and Watson Ave.) for candy and goodies as we celebrate Halloween. Last year, approximately 500 kids were in attendance. Costumes welcome! This event is provided by the Beaverton Downtown Association. For more information, visit www.downtownbeaverton.org.
