Beaverton Opens Winter Shelter for Adults Experiencing Homelessness

BEAVERTON, Ore. – The Beaverton Winter Shelter is now open for the season to provide support to area adults experiencing homelessness.

Just Compassion of East Washington County will operate the shelter in collaboration with the city and Washington County Supporting Housing Services. The shelter will remain open through at least March 15 with the possibility of being extended due to weather.

Now in its sixth season of operation, the shelter serves as a warm, safe space for adults experiencing homelessness with continuous 24-hour, seven days per week services for up to 30 adults on an enrollment basis.

Shelter guests receive meals, showers, access to resources and referral to social services. COVID-19 precautions will be maintained for guests and staff.

The shelter is located at the Beaverton Community Center at 12350 SW 5th Street. Referral for adults in need of shelter could be enrolled by contacting Community Connect at 503-640-3263.

For those looking for a way to support the shelter this year, a supply drop-off opportunity is happening Wednesday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Beaverton Community Center.

Top Needs: Razors, Earplugs, Blankets, Handwarmers, Shampoo/Conditioner (Small Bottles), Socks, Underwear, Sweatpants, Waterproof Gloves, Frozen/Nonperishable Food (Frozen Burritos, Boxes of Chips, Granola Bars, Ground Coffee, Hot Chocolate, etc.).
